Guddu's tactics go in vain, son fails to rise from Alot

UJJAIN: The tactics adopted by Congress MP from Ujjain Premchand Guddu to secure a party ticket for his son Ajeet Borasi from Alot assembly seat went in vain as the latter lost by a huge margin of 7,973 votes against BJP candidate Jitendra Gehlot.
The Alot seat surfaced on the national political map after Guddu managed a 'back-door' entry for Ajeet by getting ticket for a dummy candidate who filed incomplete papers paving way for Ajeet to get Congress symbol.

The Alot election was being considered as a high-profile contest with sons of Guddu and BJP national general secretary Tavarchand Gehlot in the fray. Guddu and Gehlot will possibly be in the fray for Lok Sabha elections from Ujjain seat.
Guddu had pressed Ajeet into field work in Alot for the last two years and that is why when the Congress denied a ticket to the MP's son as per its policy, he resorted to other means. On the other hand, Jitendra was fielded at the last moment after Alot sitting MLA and minister Manohar Utwal was shifted to another seat Agar Malwa over poor feedback. Utwal managed victory from new seat as well.
It was a complete sweep for the BJP in the Malwa region with voters choosing third term for Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Alot was no exception.
Ajeet could not stand the 'Shivraj wave' and inflation in daily need goods only dented the Congress prospects. Jitendra too accepted that it was not his win but people chose him as they wanted to see Chouhan continuing as the CM.
Premchand Guddu has written a letter to the Congress president taking moral responsibility for the defeat and said that he would honour the party's directive. Guddu, however, raised doubts over EVMs and presiding officers and alleged that the CM took full use of government machinery.
